The voluntary tenth year of school builds on the final level of compulsory school attendance (Oberschule and Realschule) and largely applies criteria appropriate for adult education.

In this voluntary year, young people are encouraged to develop their personalities autonomously and expand their scholastic ability. Four concentrations are available in this regard:

• Pro Lingua concentration
  Preparation for commercial, social, and medical professions, preparation for vocational high school
• Cyberclass concentration
  Preparation epecially for trades and industry, in individual cases also commercial careers
• Bridge to the Future concentration
  Scolastic and social curriculum and practical work; preparation especially for manual professions
• Crafts concentration
  Scolastic, social, and especailly also practical curriculum; preparation for apprenticeship or attestation, but also simpler entry into the workforce

The Language Bridge is an integration course for non-German-speaking students. The students receive intensive instruction in German and are integrated into the appropriate scholastic concentration.
