The long track of the Gymnasium builds on the fifth year of primary school and leads to the baccalaureate (Matura) in seven years. Additional transfer opportunities from the Realschule to the Gymnasium ensure good mobility. The lower level of the Gymnasium lasts three years; the upper level, which corresponds to the short track of the Gymnasium, lasts four years.
Upon entering the upper level, students choose among five concentrations, in accordance with their interests and talents: “Lingua” (focus on Latin and Italian); “Modern Languages”, “Art, Music, and Education”, “Economics and Law”, or “Mathematics and Natural Sciences”.
The Liechtenstein Gymnasium prepares students for university. The goal of the Gymnasium education is to impart foundational knowledge to students for a life of learning and to promote their openness of mind and their ability to make independent judgments. The Gymnasium is completed with the baccalaureate (Matura), which entitles students to enter universities in Switzerland and Austria without an examination.
