The Liechtenstein School of Art, opened in 1993, is a school for
the artistically minded. The school complements and extends the educational offerings of the general
education schools in the creative and esthetic fields. The course offerings are directed at children
from the age of five, young people, and also – in line with the principle of life-long learning – at
adults. The Liechtenstein School of Art aims to provide artistically oriented education commensurate
to the wide variety of contemporary art. It aims to awaken and promote the varied expressive talents
of young people, in parallel with regular schooling. Freed from performance pressure, young people are
able to gradually and playfully discover and develop these talents. The School of Art also aims to encourage
autonomy, critical abilities, and self-confidence, but also tolerance, persistence, and the ability
to cope with pressure. A special concern of the Liechtenstein School of Art is the promotion of young
people desiring to pursue a creative profession. The school offers them the opportunity to prepare themselves
for admission to a professional art school or art academy. A further goal is the promotion of adults
who either wish to further develop their creative talents for professional reasons or who wish to find
a counterbalance to their everyday lives. The School
of Art is located in its own premises in Eschen, endowed with highly modern information technology infrastructure.
The school is funded through contributions of the State, municipalities, sponsors, and student tuition.
Students present their works and creations to the general
public at exhibitions and events regularly organized by the School of Art. Liechtenstein
