“formatio” consists of a primary school, a secondary school, and an upper-level baccalaureate school, all of which are run according to the official Liechtenstein curricula. Instruction in all three schools is bilingual, in German and English. In primary school, the language of instruction is half German and half English; students in the secondary school and the upper-level baccalaureate school attend at least two subjects in the foreign language, in addition to mandatory English lessons. French is taught starting in the first grade of the primary school.
In addition to bilingual education, “formatio” distinguishes itself from other schools primarily due to its special pedagogical concept: In small classes, the core information of the curriculum is developed in a reliable and enduring manner using the “Learning with Self-Control” educational model; in addition, mainly student-centered forms of learning such as open learning or project instruction are used, which promote the students’ own initiative and autonomy.
“formatio” is a day school in which students are attended to all day. The most important objectives and focuses of “formatio” include, in addition to solid subject-specific education, the promotion of talents and creativity, personality development, the acquisition of foreign language skills, in particular English, and competence in key modern abilities such as computer skills, teamwork, flexibility, and so on.
The “formatio” bilingual private school is supported by the Formatio Education Establishment. Parents must pay school fees. In addition, they must pay for the students’ lunches. In January 2003, "formatio" was granted its status under public law.
