Since entry into force of the Law on Universities flpostag_yp,
Institutions of Higher Education, and Research Institutes of 25 November 1992, Liechtenstein has formally
offered a tertiary education sector, which, due to the small size of the country, is very limited, with
only three institutions of higher learning and a university-like institute (most Liechtenstein students
attend institutions of higher learning in Austria and especially in Switzerland). Despite its small
size, the tertiary education sector in Liechtenstein is characterized by intensive research activities,
both in basic research and in applied research. The
Liechtenstein institutions of higher education include the Hochschule Liechtenstein,
the University of Human Sciences, the International Academy of Philosophy, and the Liechtenstein Institute.
The following overview briefly presents the research activities of each institution. |
