The Liechtenstein Institute conducts research relevant to Liechtenstein
in political science, law, economics, sociology, and history. Proven researchers from Liechtenstein
and abroad examine the unique characteristics of small States in general and Liechtenstein in particular,
the specific history and legal forms of Liechtenstein, the international economic linkages of the small
State, and the melding of its own culture with foreign influences. The insights gained from the research
are intended to awaken greater understanding of the Liechtenstein State by the domestic and foreign
public, to promote Liechtenstein's understanding of itself, and to facilitate the forming of opinions
and decision-making. The Liechtenstein Institute, which
was founded in 1986, has already conducted a wide range of multi-year research projects. Examples of
project topics include: Liechtenstein in the First and Second World War, the land market in Liechtenstein,
cultural identity in the small State, Liechtenstein and the EU, the jurisprudence of Liechtenstein courts
of public law, the expenditure patterns of the Liechtenstein State, political communication and the
media in Liechtenstein, the economic effects of EEA membership. The
research results are presented to the public through publications, readings, lectures, seminars, colloquia,
etc. In addition, lecture series with presenters from abroad and individual lectures on current and
State affairs are offered. More detailed information
