Financing of State cultural promotion

In fiscal year 2001, the State running expenditures for culture were around 22 million Swiss francs.
This amount includes the expenditures of the
Ministry of Cultural Affairs for the offices and foundations under public law assigned to it, the contributions for promoting projects of the Historical Society , and support for cultural associations and special cultural projects. It also includes running expenditures for the Music School , the School of Art , and the Adult Education Foundation .

The State not only contributes to running costs, however, but also provides the necessary infrastructure for cultural life to unfold.

The cultural expenditures of the municipalities should also not be underestimated, both through support of culturally active organizations, but also through the provision of club facilities and projects relating to “Art in Construction”.

The cultural sector also benefits from private patronage and cultural sponsoring, which contribute significant resources as a supplement to public financing.
