In accordance with the portfolio schedule of the Government, State
cultural policy and cultural promotion are assigned to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and, with respect
to the activities of the Music School and the School of Art, also to the Ministry of Education. Certain
responsibilities in the area of culture are transferred by the Government to offices of the National
Administration (National Archives, archeology, preservation of historic sites, preservation of cultural
heritage, postage stamps, Office of Cultural Affairs) or to foundations under public law (Liechtenstein
National Library, Liechtenstein National Museum, Liechtenstein Museum of Fine Arts, Liechtenstein Adult
Education, Liechtenstein Music School, Liechtenstein School of Art). Cultural
promotion is based on the Cultural Promotion Act of 1990, which safeguards free artistic expression
and governs the responsibilities of the Cultural Advisory Council. The Cultural Advisory Council is
a Government commission advising the Government on matters relating to the promotion and coordination
of cultural activities. |
