Revitalizing rivers and creeks helps our water animals

Canalization, lowering of the water table, and pollution have had a severely negative effect on the aquatic animals in rivers and creeks. Thanks to sewage treatment and the beginning of various revitalization efforts, attempts are being made to give small animals and fish their lost habitats back. The restructuring of the lower course of the Inland Channel enables the Lake Constance trout, for instance, to climb up to its spawning grounds in our source streams like it did before, and has made it possible for the dace to become native to Liechtenstein again.
