The State promotes activities in the area of sports for persons with disabilities, especially the sports group of the Association of Persons with Disabilities, by means of an annual contribution.

The promotion of sports for persons with disabilities is an integral part of the services offered by the Association of Persons with Disabilities. A popular sports group has been maintained for years.
Additional sports groups such as cross-country skiing, water sports, and cycling have been added.
The year 2000 was of enormous importance for the "Special Olympics" movement, due to the founding meeting with the participation of H.S.H. Princess Nora of Liechtenstein. The Association of Persons with Disabilities is the legal patron of Special Olympics Liechtenstein and has taken on funding and administrative tasks.
