National Olympic Committee (NOK)
A first joint action of the Liechtenstein sports club, still pursuant to a private initiative, was the founding of a National Olympic Committee in 1935, which made participation in the Olympic Games in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Berlin possible. After the Games, the committee was dissolved, since the NOK was of a purely formal nature, until the Reigning Prince recommended in July 1937 that it be reconstituted and registered with the authorities.

Sports Advisory Council of the Government
After the commitments expressed by the Government at the founding of the FLSV (Liechtenstein Sports Federation) and of the NOK, athletes and functionaries hoped that financial support from the State would be as generous as possible. The hopes were only partially fulfilled at first. The State itself was dealing with a tight budget, and with these limited resources, it needed to satisfy needs that were doubtlessly more pressing than sports.
Since the founding of the National Sports Association, there had been calls for a Sports Office, to be staffed full-time; at the urging of the National Sports Association, the Government proceeded to establish a Sports Advisory Committee in 1964. It was brought into being by the Act of 23 July 1964. The Law on the creation of a Liechtenstein sports foundation is dated the same day.

Liechtenstein  Sports Promotion Foundation
A further institution of Liechtenstein sports is the special patronage of the Liechtenstein Sports Promotion Foundation. The FLSV and NOK established this foundation according to the Swiss model. The idea for the foundation came from the Executive Sports Committee, which had always relied on private donors. Existing resources had primarily been allocated to popular sports, clubs, and promotion of youth sports. What was missing was an institution to promote elite sports. The founding of the "Liechtenstein Sports Promotion Foundation" was proposed, to which about 20 individuals from business and private life would belong. The foundation document was signed on 6 July 1974.

The current sports bodies
In the spring of 1992, the Liechtenstein Olympic Sports Federation (LOSV) was created by merging

  • the FLSV (Liechtenstein Sports Federation),
  • the LOK (Liechtenstein Olympic Committee), and
  • the SLSH (Liechtenstein Sports Promotion Foundation).

With the entry into force of the Sports Act on 1 April 2000, the Government established the "Government Sports Commission". It is the successor of the Sports Advisory Council founded in 1964.
