General information on Mauren/Schaanwald
Mauren (472 meters elevation) was first documented in 1178 as "Muron". The political municipality consists of the neighborhoods of Mauren and Schaanwald. In the early 19th century, the construction of new houses in the main town was prohibited by the municipal assembly (in 1850, the maximum number was still fixed at 111 households).
Thus, a new settlement grew in Schaanwald. The memorial for Peter Kaiser (1793 – 1864), the Liechtenstein educator and historian, is located in Mauren. Autumn turnips used to be a favorite crop in Mauren. The nickname "Murer Räba" (Mauren autumn turnip) persists until today. Of particular note are the Birka protected reserve for birds, the Weiherring leisure park, and the Eschen-Mauren sports grounds. The municipality of Mauren-Schaanwald is home to many industry and trade businesses.

• St. Peter and Paul Parish Church
  The grounds of the church, parsonage, and cemetery in the "Kirchabot" are an area rich in tradition. The slight terrace of the grounds has been shown to have been a construction and settlement site even in Roman times.
  The ground plans of all the churches lie in the settlement area of a Roman villa. In 1842, the old, dilapidated church was torn down. The current church was built in 1843/44 according to the plans from 1827 by the princely construction inspector Laurenz Vogel. From 1986 to 1988, the parish church was completely renovated and the church interior was redesigned according to the artistic plans of Georg Malin.
