According to the Constitution, the Government is responsible for
the entire National Administration in accordance with the Constitution and legislation. Since the scope
of responsibilities is always expanding, the Government has the power to assign responsibilities to
other authorities. Individual officeholders, Government offices, or special commissions carry out the
responsibilities assigned to them with the reservation that their decisions may be appealed to the Government.
The responsibilities of the National Administration are currently carried out by approximately 50 Government
offices. About 50 commissions subordinate to the Government take decisions on its behalf, file petitions
for Government action, or play an exclusively advisory role. Legislation
assigns further responsibilities of the National Administration to public institutions and foundations.
The Government exercises supervisory authority. These public institutions and foundations are the Liechtenstein
Electric Power Authority, the Liechtenstein Natural Gas Authority, the Pensions and Insurance Office,
as well as the Liechtenstein National Library, the Liechtenstein National Museum, the Liechtenstein
Music School, the Liechtenstein Museum of Fine Arts Foundation, and the Pension Fund for Public Employees. Offices Office
