The Office of Banking Supervision was transformed into the Financial
Market Authority Liechtenstein on 1 May 1999, its scope of responsibilities
expanded
and the supervision of
financial services consolidated, creating a central contact point for all interested circles and the
Administration. In addition to the supervision of banks, finance companies, and investment undertakings,
the FSA is now also responsible for tasks relating to lawyers, professional trustees, patent attorneys,
and auditors, i.e., the liberal professions. These responsibilities include granting licenses, announcing
the various examinations, granting admission to examinations, issuing diplomas, and maintaining the
various professional listings. Statistics as of the
