Liechtenstein will continue to strive to preserve its liberal business
environment. This is an ongoing process, especially in connection with changes arising from EEA law. In
addition to measures to preserve and expand favorable business conditions, the Government has initiated
various projects to further strengthen the industrial and business location. One
of the recent projects was the establishment of a competence center for small and medium-size businesses.
Its responsibilities include, for example, advising young entrepreneurs, services for self-employed
persons (coaching), economic and trend research, its function as a partner of the Government for legislative
consultations and as an interface between business and science. The
operational direction of the competence center was given to the Hochschule Liechtenstein
. Through numerous cooperative activities with businesses,
the University of Applied Sciences can draw on extensive experience in the area of applied business
research. The competence center for small and medium-size
businesses is under the supervision of the Office of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The
Government expects a further strengthening of industry and manufacturing in Liechtenstein through direct
financial support of private initiatives and projects of significance for the entire sector or the entire
business location. It is also of continuing importance
to Liechtenstein to promote cooperation within the region. Especially through the increased focus of
the European Union on transnational regions, Liechtenstein as an EEA member places great value on even
closer cooperation with its immediate neighbors, the Swiss cantons of Graubünden and St. Gallen and
the Austrian province of Vorarlberg. |
