Association of Patent Attorneys 
Mandate and services

The purpose of the Association is to represent the interests of its members, in particular vis-à-vis the Government, relevant Government Offices and courts; to promote the reputation of the profession; to exchange experiences among members with respect to relevant professional questions; to comment on consultations of patent offices, in particular the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property and the European Patent Office; as well as all activities the Board considers to be in the interest of the Association.

Areas of work

The Liechtenstein Association of Patent Attorneys (LIPAV) was founded on 31 January 1995 as an association under private law. Members of the Association of Patent Attorneys can be:

  • natural persons or legal entities registered on the list of patent attorneys maintained by the Government and/or the list of representatives admitted to the European Patent Office (Members of the European Patent Institute  ) and whose place of residence or work is in Liechtenstein or whose business is domiciled in Liechtenstein (regular members),
  • natural persons or legal entities whose place of residence or business domicile is in Liechtenstein, who are not registered on one of the above-mentioned lists, but whose professional activity exclusively or predominantly concerns questions of industrial property rights and/or the commercial use of industrial property rights (patent engineers, licensing experts, etc.)

The organs of the Association of Patent Attorneys are:

  • General Assembly
  • Board

The Board of the Association of Patent Attorneys consists of five members.
