Internet portal www.liechtenstein.li now also in French

Vaduz, 18 January (pafl) – On 20 January 2006, the Internet portal www.liechtenstein.li will be expanded by a French-language version. The French site will be a short version of the Liechtenstein portal that has been online in German and English since 2003.

For some time, there have been several reasons in favor of developing a French-language version of www.liechtenstein.li. Especially relevant for the decision was that three of the eight Liechtenstein embassies are located in French-speaking areas. But also the growing French interest in Liechtenstein, still negative prejudices and clichés about Liechtenstein in French-speaking countries, and the celebrations for “200 Years of Sovereignty of the Principality of Liechtenstein” with a direct historical link to France were ultimately decisive for this further development of the Liechtenstein portal.

“The Liechtenstein portal is our gateway to the world. More and more people are using it to gain a first overview of our country. It is becoming increasingly popular both in Liechtenstein and abroad,” Government Spokesperson Gerlinde Manz-Christ stated.

Thanks to intensive communication measures abroad on behalf of the country over the last four years, Liechtenstein has succeeded in achieving international visibility and recognition and an image abroad that is more in line with reality. These steps have been supported by offering a professional service for international media and by providing all requisite documentation and tailored services in formats appropriate to the client.

Along with the increasing interest in Liechtenstein, there is also a growing desire for information on Liechtenstein in other languages. The new French-language version will serve as the basis for additional versions, so that the Internet portal can be made available in other languages as needed.
