Ministry of Home Affairs

The safeguarding of internal security and public safety of a country are extremely important. The Government is therefore particularly concerned that the fundamental rights and the safety of individuals in Liechtenstein are guaranteed. In pursuit of this goal, international and regional cooperation in the area of security must be intensified. At the same time, the security and rescue organizations in Liechtenstein must be strengthened and expanded, so that they can meet future challenges and the ever more complex, new demands for the welfare of the country.

Especially in a small State like Liechtenstein, which does not have large organizations to counter threats and which cannot deploy military units if public security is threatened, such as for disaster control, it is particularly important that the existing rescue organizations cooperate with police, civil defense, and the national supply system in an optimal manner. Especially in the area of public safety, the Government places great emphasis on cooperation between the municipalities and the national authorities.
