According to the portfolio schedule, the Ministry of Justice is
responsible for civil law, including persons and companies law; criminal law; execution, inheritance,
and bankruptcy law; procedural law; data protection; international legal assistance, extradition, and
transit; enforcement of sentences; and supervision of foundations. In
these areas of the law, the Ministry of Justice prepares Government decisions, drafts enactments, and
prepares timely legislative responses to international developments and challenges. For purposes of
these projects, the Ministry of Justice consults the expertise and experiences of international practitioners
and internationally recognized experts. The Ministry
of Justice also
supervises the Office of Land and Public Registration and the enforcement of sentences and measures,
and it serves as the central authority with respect to international legal assistance in criminal matters. |
