Ministry of Sports

Popular, competitive, and elite sports play a particularly important role in Liechtenstein. Beyond this, the Government promotes sport in its broadest aspects, including quality of life, health, integration of people with disabilities, tourism, etc.

The existing sports legislation and sports strategies constitute the necessary basis for these tasks, allowing sports policy to respond to the needs of the Liechtenstein population in the coming years.

Sports are promoted in cooperation with the Sports Commission, the Liechtenstein Olympic Sports Federation (LOSV), and the sports associations and clubs. The emphasis is on the tried and true as well as the innovative. Cooperation with the LOSV in particular is carried out on the basis of a service agreement.

Liechtenstein's sports strategy will be consistently and continuously implemented in the coming years. The course will also be set for Liechtenstein to host several international sporting events and conferences (such as the Games of the Small States of Europe in 2011). Such events help raise Liechtenstein's recognition abroad and contribute to a positive image of the country.
