The Liechtenstein Association of Engineers and Architects (lia)
fulfills the following responsibilities in particular: - Exercise
of profession
lia urges its members to exercise their profession in a sustainable manner;
it is engaged in the education and continuing training of its members - Professional
conduct
lia urges its members to exercise their professions in an ethically exemplary
manner, to respect the rules of fair competition and the code of professional conduct of lia, and to
contribute to the honor and reputation of the profession of engineers and architects - Instruments
for the exercise of the profession
It participates in the creation, further development,
publication and introduction of specialist and legal instruments for the exercise of the profession.
It recognizes and recommends the standards and regulations of the Swiss Association of Engineers and
Architects (SIA) as well as other norms declared binding in Liechtenstein - Professional
interests
It formulates and represents the professional interests of its members at the
national level and helps the authorities, educational institutions, and the public recognize these interests;
it engages in targeted public relations work - Services
It
offers services to its members and third parties such as counseling, assessments, arbitration. The financing
of such services is always regulated in advance. lia also provides additional services to entrepreneur
members such as fixing fee schedules, information on competitions, tenders, legislative hearings and
consultations, etc

- Name, Domicile
The
Liechtenstein Association of Engineers and Architects (lia) is a registered association domiciled in
Vaduz in accordance with articles 246 et seq. of the Law on Persons and Companies. - Categories
of members
lia is composed of: - Individual members -
Entrepreneur members - Honorary members - Individual
members:
Natural persons can be admitted as individual members who have attained a professional
degree in construction, technology, or the environment from a university, professional college, or equivalent
level, in accordance with Register (A+B) of the Swiss Engineers, Architects, and Technicians, and who
submit proof of their qualified exercise of the profession. For persons whose membership is of special
interest to lia, specific membership requirements can be waived. - Entrepreneur
members
Entrepreneur members are individual members who additionally are owner or manager
of an active engineer’s or architect’s office. The individual membership is dormant during the period
of entrepreneur membership. For every active engineer’s or architect’s office, only one individual member
is recognized as entrepreneur member, regardless of the number of employees. If an engineer’s or architect’s
office employs more than one individual member who would fulfill the requirements of an entrepreneur
member, lia shall be informed which individual member will claim the entrepreneur membership. - Honorary
members
Persons can be awarded honorary membership who have rendered great services to
the profession or to lia in the area of technology, architecture, or science. Honorary members enjoy
the same rights as individual and entrepreneur members. - Organs

Special Commissions - Function
The General Assembly
is the highest organ of lia.
