The latest economic survey conducted by Liechtenstein’s Office for Statistics revealed a good overall business situation in autumn 2017. At the start of October, 39 per cent of the country’s industrial and manufacturing companies rated their situation as good. 60 per cent described it as satisfactory and only one per cent as poor. This is an improvement on May 2017, when nine per cent of the companies surveyed described the situation as poor.
The third quarter saw positive developments in order intakes, personnel numbers and machine and capacity utilization, according to the report. A majority of businesses improved their earnings performance. On this basis, most of the companies surveyed have a positive outlook and are forecasting further positive developments in the fourth quarter.
Particularly optimistic are companies in the metals and non-metals industry. In the construction sector the mood is reticent, although no company is in a poor situation. For the fourth quarter, the sector expects a decline in order intakes and a downward earnings trend.
