The Schaan-based coffee roaster Demmel has received two international accolades: two stars from the International Taste & Quality Institute and gold, for the fifth time, from the German Agricultural Society.
Demmel AG received the award of two stars following a test of its Verona coffee blend by the International Taste & Quality Institute (iTQi) in Brussels. The coffee roaster now holds the iTQis Superior Taste Award, according to a statement.
The iTQi is an independent organisation made up of chefs and sommeliers that rates and promotes foodstuffs and drinks with an exceptional taste. The jury comprises members of 15 renowned associations of chefs and sommeliers, who are recognised as opinion leaders and taste experts.
Meanwhile, the second accolade came from the German Agricultural Society (DlG) in Frankfurt, which has rated the Verona coffee blend gold for the fifth time. Every year, the DIG jury tests and awards more than 30,000 outstanding foodstuffs.
Verona is characterised by a particularly gentle and innovative roasting process and its selection of raw beans, according to Demmel. Peter Demmel won the Businessplan Wettbewerb Liechtenstein Rheintal in 2009 with his business plan for a coffee roasting company. Since then, he has been producing coffee all roasted by hand in the principality of Liechtenstein.
