The Vaduz startup ForYouFirst was only founded by former employees of the Basel dentistry group Straumann last autumn. Since then, it has already carried out 500 treatments at the two scan centres in Zurich and Lausanne, as was reported in an article on startupticker.ch. It also opened its first scan centre outside Switzerland in Lisbon a few days ago.
ForYouFirst is revolutionising orthodontics. In its centres, teeth are scanned and the results discussed with a dentist straight away. An algorithm determines the required corrective steps. The company then prints the respective clear aligners using a 3D printer. Patients receive a new slightly different aligner by post every two weeks. In this way, the startup has managed to get the cost of treatment down to under 3,000 Swiss francs. The same dental treatment would normally be expected to cost between 8,000 and 10,000 francs.
