According to a Hilti statement, the company’s sales for the 2016 financial year was CHF 4.6 billion, an increase of 5.7 per cent over the previous year. The Liechtenstein construction equipment manufacturer enjoyed sales growth in all regions except Latin America. For the first time in the company’s history, online sales went beyond the CHF 1 billion mark.
The operating result was CHF 604 million, a 10 per cent increase over the previous year. Net income was CHF 481 million, corresponding to an increase of 17 per cent. Return on capital grew by 21 per cent.
Hilti launched 60 new products in 2016, and at CHF 280 million, its R&D expenditures were 17 per cent higher than in 2015. The number of employees also grew by 5 per cent to over 24,600.
“Despite many uncertainties in the global environment, the continued and consistent implementation of our Champion 2020 Corporate Strategy has spurred accelerated growth and yet another positive development of our operating result,” said Hilti CEO Christoph Loos. “Hence, we have fully achieved our objectives in the year under review.”
Hilti will continue to invest in its portfolio and expand its sales capacity over the course of 2017.
