According to its press release, the Hilti Group achieved total sales of 5.1 billion francs in 2017. This corresponds to a year-on-year increase of 10.8 per cent. The company, which services the professional construction industry, exceeded the 5-billion-franc mark in sales for the first time.
Hilti was able to increase sales in all business regions, with the strongest growth of 17.4 per cent registered in the Eastern Europe/Middle East/Africa region. In Europe, North America and Latin America, the sales rise ranged from 8.5 per cent to 9.7 per cent. In the Asia/Pacific region, business development was lower than expected, at 5.3 per cent.
For financial year 2017, Hilti reported operating profit of 692 million francs, which is an increase of 15 per cent on the previous year. At 530 million francs, net income was up 10 per cent on 2016. Return on sales amounted to 13.5 per cent and return on capital employed reached a record 21.3 per cent.
“Our profitability is very good and we can continue to invest in our future,” commented Christoph Loos, CEO of the Hilti Group. “A key issue is still the digital transformation of construction processes – we want to play an active part in shaping this in the future as well.” Research and development spending at Hilti was 311 million francs in 2017.
