The 15th edition of the Excellence in Production competition honoured the best toolmakers in the German-speaking world. The team at Hilti’s plant in Schaan was among the three finalists in the category of internal toolmaking team of less than 50 employees.
Alongside effective planning and manufacturing of production tools, Hilti’s toolmaking team was praised for its persistent focus on the Champion 2020 corporate strategy, explained Hilti in a statement. The strategy seeks to give the team the resources required to develop prototypes more quickly. In turn, this supports the further development of innovation processes.
Unit Manager Hans-Henning Weisbrich said he was proud of the award. He commented: “The entire team can be proud of this award as it serves to justify the high level of employee commitment which drives forward our technological differentiation and the ongoing improvement of our processes.” According to the finalist profiles, the toolmaking unit in Schaan employs 40 staff and five apprentices.
The competition is held by the Laboratory for Machine Tools at the North Rhine-Westphalia Aachen University and the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology in Aachen. This year’s edition attracted 311 entrants from the tool and mold making industries.
