The Research and Innovation Center Rhine Valley or RhySearch, which is located in Buchs in the canton of St.Gallen, will be expanded in the coming years. The CHF 11.09 million required for new facilities and laboratory equipment is to come from the centre’s two sponsors, the canton of St.Gallen and Liechtenstein.
The canton of St.Gallen already authorised its share of CHF 7.4 million. The members of the Liechtenstein parliament or Landtag have now voted in favour of granting a CHF 3.7 million credit for the expansion.
RhySearch works together with other research and educational institutes, such as the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa), the University of Liechtenstein and NTB Interstate University of Applied Sciences of Technology Buchs, creating a technology cluster that can handle major research assignments and facilitate the transfer of technology. The centre also serves as a point of contact for companies in need of comprehensive research and innovation support.
In the coming years, research in high-quality coating techniques, packaging technology and precision manufacturing will be promoted.
