At the 32nd World Logging Championship in Poland, the five-member delegation from Liechtenstein won bronze in the team event. The next competition will take place in Norway in 2018.
The 32nd World Logging Championship was held from 8 to 11 September in Wisla, Poland. The manager of the five-person Liechtenstein delegation Michael Beck told the newspaper the Liechtensteiner Vaterland that the competition is divided into five disciplines and one team event. On the second day of the competition in the discipline Tree Felling, for instance, competitors had to fell an 18-metre-high tree and have it fall as near as possible to a pre-determined marker post.
In the team event, the Liechtenstein team had a very good time but narrowly missed coming in second place due to what they described as frustrating penalties. But they easily captured third place and were awarded the bronze medal.
Im very pleased with the performance of the athletes. We were well prepared for the championship, but we couldnt replicate our training results and didnt have that extra bit of luck, said Michael Beck. The delegation will soon begin preparations for the 2018 world champions in Norway.
