U.S. Ambassador Suzan LeVine has confirmed in an interview with the Bankers Association that Liechtenstein continues to be an important partner for the USA. Liechtensteins efforts towards tax transparency do not go unnoticed in the USA, she said.
The partnership between the two countries is important both economically and in terms of tackling climate change and fighting terrorism, said Suzan LeVine, U.S. Ambassador for Switzerland and Liechtenstein in an interview with the Liechtenstein Bankers Associations Bankenmagazin publication. She added that after her first year in office, these ties were even stronger than she could have imagined a short time ago. She described Liechtenstein as a leading financial centre combined with a thriving industry and a government that thinks long-term to find solutions to global challenges. The USA and Liechtenstein share an appreciation of the rule of law and an interest in innovation, the ambassador said.
According to LeVine, finance and banking are more important than ever before: access to capital and information is what will shape the future, she said. She explained that creating more transparency was essential, adding that Liechtenstein had taken decisive steps to ensure reciprocal reporting of information on tax matters. Liechtensteins efforts have not gone unnoticed in the USA, commented Suzan LeVine. She said: Liechtenstein has provided valuable assistance to the U.S. in ensuring that tax payers can no longer avoid paying what they owe.
