Liechtensteins exports and imports are on the rise. Both figures grew in the third quarter by four per cent over the same period in 2015, a year that was characterised by what has become known as the "frankenshock".
The Liechtenstein Office of Statistics (AS) published the latest figures on foreign trade for the third quarter of 2016. These relate to the direct export and import of goods as recorded by the Federal Customs Administration. Exports were CHF 811 million, which corresponds to a 4.4 per cent increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
Liechtensteins direct import of goods was valued at CHF 484 million in the third quarter of 2016, a growth of 5.2 per cent over the third quarter in 2015.
As this trade is recorded at border points with Switzerland, neither the trade in services nor exports and imports to and from Switzerland are included in these figures.
