Niederrhein University in Nordrhein-Westfalen is making use of Oerlikon Balzers’ technology to train the new generation of surface engineering experts. The laboratory at the university has now been fitted with a coating system produced by the Liechtenstein-based company.
“As the METAPLAS.DOMINO MINI combines source technologies such as arc evaporation, sputtering and high-ionization processes, it is the ideal solution for the demands of our practically-oriented teaching programmes,” commented laboratory director Markus Lake in a statement.
The move makes Oerlikon Balzers the industry partner for the laboratory, added the statement. “The aim is to use this collaboration in future for working on new technologies and developments,” explained Marc Desrayaud, head of Oerlikon Balzers Industrial Solutions.
Oerlikon Balzers is a globally leading provider of coatings that improve the performance and lifespan of precision components and tools for metal and plastics processing.
