The Oberriet SG local authority recently advertised empty property opposite the Migros supermarket with the aim of “attracting the resettlement of an innovative company”, according to a statement from the Gemeindeverwaltung Oberriet. Where possible, the authority was seeking a company from a sector previously not represented in Oberriet.
Following Augenklinik Reis’ purchase of the site, these aims have been met. Owner Alexander Reis plans to open his second eye clinic and an optician on the site, where building work began last Friday with the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony. According to the plans, the three-story new build will be completed in December 2019.
Reis’ successful first eye clinic in Bendern in Liechtenstein has reached full capacity, explained the eye doctor in an article written by Susi Miara for “Tagblatt”. But instead of expanding the existing premises, he decided to open a new branch in Switzerland. “In Bendern, we treat 30,000 patients from Switzerland,” he said of his decision. The company is investing around 10 million Swiss francs in the new clinic in the Rhine Valley.
