The University of Liechtenstein winners beat out 70 competitors in the buildings and space category. Dietrich Schwarz Architekten AG impressed with its innovative approach for a new construction and conversion project on Hohlstrasse 100 in Zurich.
“The project responds to the challenges of modern urban development, namely densification, energy efficiency, noise protection and operation optimization,” said Dietrich Schwarz.
For instance, wood elements with high-performance insulating materials were used to create the thinnest possible exterior façade. These ensure good insulation while at the same time permit maximum use of the existing space.
This year’s award to architects at the University of Liechtenstein is recognition of “the great work being done in recent years in the areas of spatial development, sustainability and innovation,” said Jürgen Brücker, Rector of the University of Liechtenstein.
