Three new Hilti tools have won awards for product design. The innovations convinced the jury at the international iF Product Design Awards competition.
One award went to the BX 3 battery-powered fastening tool, writes Hilti in a press release. A world-first of its kind, the electric tool produces enough power to drive fasteners into hard materials such as concrete or steel. The PR 3-HVSG rotating laser also won an award. It has a green laser that is easily visible to the human eye, making the tool ideal for working over long distances or in bright conditions. Thirdly, the jury presented an award to the SF 8M-A22 / SF 10W-A22 family of cordless drill drivers. The drill drivers have four-speed entirely metal gearing, which provides the optimum torque for drilling in wood, according to the press release.
This years competition received almost 5,300 product entries from some 2,500 companies in more than 50 countries, iF revealed. In a press release, the design forum explained that it crowned 75 award winners that represent perfect combinations of construction and design, functionality and beauty, and style and technology. The jury based their decisions on nine criteria: aesthetics, practicability, execution, innovation, usability/ergonomics, brand fit, safety, environmental impact and target group fit.
