In January, 459 people were registered as unemployed with the Arbeitsmarkt Service Liechtenstein (AMS FL), which equates to 53 more people than in December. As such, the unemployment rate increased from 2.1 per cent to 2.3 per cent, announced the AMS FL in a statement. However, compared to January 2016, there were 55 fewer unemployed people.
Youth unemployment in January was up by 15 people (+6.2 per cent) compared to the previous month, totaling 256 people or a rate of 2.4 per cent. Compared to the same month in the previous year, however, there were 44 fewer unemployed people in the 25 to 49 age group. This equates to a drop of 14.7 per cent.
The number of job vacancies registered with the AMS FL fell by 0.4 per cent to 791 positions. Compared to the same month in the previous year, this was an increase of 424 jobs (+115.5 per cent).
