According to the Labour Market Service Liechtenstein (AMS FL), 416 people were recorded as unemployed by the end of March 2016, around 36 people less than in the previous month. This represents a drop in the unemployment rate from 2.3 per cent in February to 2.1 per cent in March. Compared to March 2016, there were 55 fewer unemployed people, corresponding to a drop of 0.3 percentage points.
Youth unemployment also went down in March. According to the AMS FL, there were 64 unemployed youth (15 to 24 years of age) by the end of March. Compared to the previous month, this represents a decline of 16.9 per cent – and a decline of 23.8 per cent compared to March 2016. The youth unemployment rate stood at 2.9 per cent at the end of March.
The number of job vacancies reported to the AMS FL decreased by 4.7 per cent over the previous month. At the end of February, there were 864 registered vacancies compared to 823 at the end of March. In comparison to March 2016, 56 more job vacancies (+7.3 per cent) were reported.
