At the end of December, 406 people were registered as unemployed with the employment service Arbeitsmarkt Service Liechtenstein (AMS FL), announced the AMS FL in a statement. This equates to 19 fewer people than in the previous month, or 69 fewer than in the previous year.
The unemployment rate fell from 2.2 per cent in November to 2.1 per cent in the reference month, and was down by 0.3 per cent compared to the same month in the previous year.
Furthermore, fewer young people (15 to 24 year olds) were unemployed in December. The rate of unemployed young people fell by 12 in December to 54 people. Compared to the previous month, this is a reduction of 22 people, with the youth unemployment rate now standing at 2.4 per cent.
Fewer job vacancies were registered overall in December than in November, with 794 vacancies in December versus 808 in November. However, the rate of job vacancies was significantly up on the previous year – by a total of 431 positions.
