According to a statement from the University of Liechtenstein, the university used its “focused marketing campaigns” to appeal in particular to students from the extended Lake Constance region. This allowed it to succeed in significantly increasing the number of first-year students enrolled in Bachelor’s programmes compared to previous years.
“This pleasing increase in the Bachelor’s programmes corresponds to a focus in our strategy as it will create the basis for moderate growth at the University of Liechtenstein in the medium term,” said Rector Jürgen Brücker.
The university expects that the growth in the number of Bachelor’s students will lead to a growth in the number of students who go on to complete a Master’s degree.
The newly enrolled students were introduced to university life in the first week of the winter semester 2017/2018 with course-specific seminars, organizational primers and a series of social events. The programme also included visits to local companies in the region.
At the university’s Student Fair, the first semester students could familiarize themselves with student initiatives, clubs, organizations and services. A joint barbecue for all members of the university and the traditional semester kick-off party finished off the introductory week.
