Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke has won the renowned Technology Challenge Award. The head of the Institute of Information Systems at the University of Liechtenstein was honoured for his development of the EDUglopedia.org platform.
The Association for Information Systems (AIS), a global organisation for scientists in the field of information systems, presents the award to people who have shown outstanding dedication to developments in the sector, according to a press release. There is a focus on achievements developed thanks to innovative technologies. Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke has won the award for his development of the EDUglopedia.org internet platform. The platform is an international encyclopaedia of courses in the field of information systems. The press release writes that the platform already comprises more than 2,500 courses from 300 plus institutions in 70 countries. These figures make EDUglopedia.org the worlds most comprehensive directory of information systems courses.
The Technology Challenge Award is not awarded on a regular basis. Instead, it is awarded only when a worthy winner appears, according to the press release. Before 2016, the last prize was awarded in 2013. Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke is Hilti Chair of Business Process Management, head of the Institute of Information Systems, and vice-president of research at the University of Liechtenstein.
