Dual vocational training is one of Liechtenstein’s most important branches of education, said Minister of Education Dominique Gantenbein in an interview with “lie:zeit”.
Around two thirds of all secondary school leavers choose to follow this path. On the one hand, this demonstrates how strongly embedded apprenticeships are in the education system. On the other, it reflects the high demand for young professionals in the workforce.
“We can also largely attribute our low youth unemployment to the high value placed on dual vocational training in our society,” said Gantenbein, who sees vocational education as an investment in the future.
She explained: “The importance that vocational education is gaining in the different areas of our society and the economy is enormous and must continue to be strengthened with committed support.”
Gantenbein is pleased with the collaboration between companies and governmental organizations in the field of vocational training. Because joint projects are not a matter of course, according to Gantenbein, she highlighted the importance of politics and the economy committing to such projects in the future too.
