Landquart/Schaan - The Green Mountain’s vegan steak has won a PETA Vegan Food Award 2024. The Grisons-based start-up is part of the Liechtenstein company Hilcona AG. Its pepper medallion and vegan chicken fillet have also been recognized with awards in the past couple of years.
Grisons-based start-up The Green Mountain, which is part of the Liechtenstein company Hilcona AG, has announced in a press release that its plant-based steak has won the PETA Vegan Food Award 2024 in the “Best Vegan Steak” category. “The Green Mountain’s plant-based steak is an excellent example of how it is always possible to produce vegan and cruelty-free taste experiences, and shows that no animal needs to be harmed to make a steak,” says Harald Ullmann, co-founder and second chairman of PETA Germany. “We hope that many more companies and brands will follow their pioneering example and focus their own ranges on vegan products.”
Other products by The Green Mountain have impressed the jury of animal rights organization PETA in the past couple of years. Last year, the pepper medallion received an award for best vegan meat, and the year before that, the plant-based fillet was named the best vegan chicken fillet.
The Green Mountain describes its steak as “an insider tip for the upcoming barbecue season”. It believes the plant-based alternative will convince “even die-hard steak enthusiasts” with its texture, taste and paprika marinade. “This special award highlights the huge amount of effort we put into ensuring every product we launch on the market is premium quality,” says Managing Director Werner Ott. “In the future, we will continue to enhance the vegan market with indulgent, purely plant-based taste experiences.”
