Semiconductor business drives INFICON’s growth
2 March 2023
- INFICON increased its sales by almost 13 percent to around 580 million US dollars in 2022. The international measurement technology company with a site in Balzers attributes the growth to its semiconductor business. Operating profit and net profit also saw strong growth.
According to a press release from INFICON, the international measurement technology company achieved sales amounting to 581.3 million US dollars in 2022. This corresponds to year-on-year growth of 12.7 percent. INFICON’s operating profit also rose by 11.2 percent in the same period to 111.6 million US dollars.
The operating profit margin in the reporting year was only slightly lower than the previous year (19.2 percent versus 19.5 percent). Net profit of 88.5 million US dollars was recorded, which is 10.2 percent higher than 2021. The corresponding margin of 15.2 percent was very close to the previous year’s level of 15.6 percent.
All four of INFICON’s business areas were involved in the positive trends. The greatest growth was seen in the semiconductor business (Semi & Vacuum Coating), where sales rose by 16.8 percent year on year to 305.3 million US dollars. This means that, as with the previous year, around half of all sales were recorded in the semiconductor business. In regional terms, Asia continued to be the most important market region, with a 47.5-percent share of sales. As before, Europe and America each accounted for around a quarter of group sales.
Shareholders will benefit from the profits with a dividend of 18 Swiss francs per share. This corresponds to a payout ratio of 54 percent. For the ongoing year, INFICON aims to achieve sales of 570 to 610 million US dollars and an operating profit margin of around 19 percent.
