Schaan - Hilcona has begun installing the steel shelving for the new automated high-bay warehouse at its headquarters in Schaan. This represents another milestone in the second phase of construction. The high-bay warehouse and a new outgoing goods building are scheduled to be ready for use by 2025.
Construction work at Hilcona's Schaan site is running according to schedule. The food company, which is part of the Basel-based Bell Food Group, announced in a press release that installation of the steel shelving for the new automated high-bay warehouse has begun, representing another milestone in the second expansion phase. The 1,200-ton steel construction will be built in 12 weeks and subsequently fitted with insulating panels.
The second expansion phase comprises the new automated high-bay warehouse and a new outgoing goods building. Construction work on both new facilities is set to be completed by 2025. A further production building will then be developed in a third expansion phase. The first construction phase was launched in 2019, and saw the completion of a first new production facility by 2021.
Hilcona is carrying out the construction work alongside ongoing operations at its headquarters. According to the press release, this process has previously proven successful. “As we take the next steps in our plant development plan, we are once again acting with strategic vision,” says Peter Ritzer, Technical Lead at Hilcona.
