Hilti construction robot for demanding tasks

Construction product manufacturer Hilti presented its new Jaibot construction robot on Wednesday. This semi-autonomous mobile track vehicle with a flexible robotic arm is reportedly designed specifically for installation work. Jaibot executes its tasks based on Building Information Modelling (BIM) data. According to a press release, Hilti is making “a further step toward the digitization of construction sites” with this solution.  With Jaibot, Hilti has developed a solution for the most stressful routine work on construction sites, which Julia Zanona, Product Manager for Robotics at Hilti, says “is primarily overhead work”. “The Hilti Jaibot takes over the most strenuous and exhausting tasks, working alongside the installation team.” The completely cordless and easy-to-use system does not require expert skills. It is navigated by the worker via remote control. A paradigm shift towards digital construction sites is underway, but the industry has been lagging behind other sectors for years, explained Jahangir Doongaji, Member of the Executive Board of the Hilti Group. “Margin pressure and shortages of skilled labor are already facts of life in our industry and make it increasingly difficult to overcome productivity shortfalls. But leveraging the opportunities offered by digitization will compensate for it. We do this by intelligently linking processes, teams and data.” Digitally planned construction projects and their realization with the help of BIM-enabled robotic solutions also ensure constant performance and fewer errors.  This enables significant productivity gains and increases construction site safety.
