Liechtenstein opens application window for Digital Hub
18 July 2022
The Principality of Liechtenstein is interested in taking part in the Digital Europe Programme and establishing a European Digital Innovation Hub. The focus now turns to forming a consortium to support the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and public administration bodies. Applications can be submitted up to October 31.
Liechtenstein is planning to establish a European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH). These hubs are a key part of the European Commission’s Digital Europe Programme. It aims to bridge the gap between digital technology research and marketable applications, supporting the green and digital transition while at the same time strengthening resilience and digital autonomy.
According to a press release issued by the Principality of Liechtenstein, the EDIH Liechtenstein is also opening up access to the 136 existing EDIHs, thereby facilitating access to “a considerable network for local SMEs and public administration in Liechtenstein”. As a non-profit organization or consortium, an EDIH in Liechtenstein would seek to accompany and support the digital transformation of SMEs and public administration bodies over a period of three years. Half of the budget is provided by the Digital Europe Programme from the European Commission, with the other half to be borne by Liechtenstein itself.
Those interested in this initiative are invited to submit their application in the form of an Expression of Interest to the Office for Financial Center Innovation and Digitization. The deadline for applications is October 31, 2022, although it is recommended that interested parties register an informal expression of interest by August 15.
