Zero Real Estate in Graubünden is the brainchild of conceptual artists Frank and Patrik Riklin and hotel expert Daniel Charbonnier. The idea is to create innovative hotel rooms in the wilderness. Without ceilings and walls, their outlook is the natural landscape. Guests staying in the rooms are served by “modern butlers” wearing a white shirt and a black bow tie paired with bottoms of their choice – from farmer’s trousers with wellington boots to smart trousers with polished shoes.     The concept is now being rolled out to Eastern Switzerland and Liechtenstein, according to a statement. Six tourist destinations in Eastern Switzerland – Toggenburg, Heidiland, St.Gallen-Bodensee, Appenzellerland AR, Thurgau and Schaffhauserland – have partnered with Liechtenstein Tourism. As of summer 2020, each destination will host one room.  Eastern Switzerland and Liechtenstein are joining forces to operate the seven wall- and ceiling-free rooms, writes the statement. Rather than boosting overnight stays, the aim is to publicize the variety of scenery in the regions.
