LGT records double-digit growth
Total operating income at the LGT Group grew by 15 percent to 2.1 billion Swiss francs in the 2021 financial year. Group profit was up 21 percent year on year to 353 million Swiss francs. In addition, the bank posted a new record of just under 25 billion Swiss francs in the area of net new asset inflows.

INFICON sees double-digit growth
INFICON increased its revenue by almost 30 percent in 2021. Operating and net income at the global measurement technology company with a location in Balzers even rose by more than 60 percent year on year. INFICON plans to expand its capacity by 50 percent.

Liechtenstein and Ireland coordinating collaboration within Council of Europe
Dominique Hasler, member of the Government of the Principality of Liechtenstein, and Irish minister Thomas Byrne discussed the two country’s collaboration in the area of foreign trade. The talks also centered on Council of Europe procedures. Ireland and Liechtenstein are due to assume chairmanship of this organization in quick succession.

New hotel coming to the heart of Schaan
Büchel Holding is building a climate-neutral hotel with 60 rooms in the center of Schaan. For this, the provider of office space has acquired a plot of land covering 1,600 square meters. It will offer accommodation to guests attending the SAL Congress and Event Center.

Foreign trade remains on the recovery path
Liechtenstein foreign trade increased further in both directions in the final quarter of 2021. Growth in exports was somewhat higher than for imports. In both cases, Germany remains Liechtenstein’s most important trading partner.

LLB planning to delist Bank Linth
Liechtensteinische Landesbank (LLB) intends to acquire the remaining 25 percent of shares in Bank Linth, based in Uznach in the canton of St.Gallen. With LLB already holding a 75 percent stake, this would increase its equity share to 100 percent. Both banks are in favor of the takeover. Following this process, LLB plans to delist Bank Linth from the SIX Swiss Exchange.

Hilti Group raises sales by more than 12 percent
The Hilti Group once again achieved double-digit growth in 2021, by 12.1 percent. The tool manufacturer was able to fully compensate for the coronavirus-related decline in sales of the previous year. Hilti closed the year well above the pre-crisis level in local currencies.

b_smart takes over Hotel Paul’s in Widnau
From February 1, b_smart is taking over Hotel Paul’s in Widnau in the canton of St.Gallen. The hotel operator intends to redevelop the Wilhelmine-style villa as well as installing a restaurant, wellness facilities and meeting rooms. The restyled hotel is expected to reopen in the first quarter of 2023 as “b_smart hotel Widnau”.

Two new hotels set to open in Schaan
b_smart is opening two new hotel businesses in Schaan in first half of 2023. A total of 15 rooms will be on offer at Ampera House. The hotel company will also be taking over 23 rooms at the St. Elisabeth Convent that have previously been rented out by the sisters there.

Record participant numbers for Blockchain and Fintech study program
The Blockchain and Fintech study program offered by the University of Liechtenstein in cooperation with Bank Frick has kicked off the new year with its highest number of participants since being established. Liechtensteinische Post installing four parcel machines
For the first time, Liechtensteinische Post is now offering its customers the use of parcel machines. As such, mailmen will now be able to leave undeliverable parcels and registered mail for recipients at four locations. Addressees can collect their mail around the clock in addition to posting returns at these locations too.

Hoval building technology claims Architects’ Darling award
The trade publication “Schweizer Baudokumentation” has selected Hoval Switzerland as the winner of an Architects’ Darling award. The Swiss subsidiary of the Vaduz-based company emerged victorious in the Building Technology category. In fact, Hoval secured top spot in three out of the five areas evaluated.
